ALEKS is an assessment tool that zeros in on the strengths and weaknesses of a student’s mathematical knowledge. The University of Missouri requires an ALEKS mathematics placement assessment to determine readiness for various math courses. The ALEKS Placement Assessment covers material from basic math through precalculus and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. After the assessment, a targeted prep and learning module is available to help students improve placement and eventual course outcomes.

Every student must complete a questionnaire to determine whether the assessment is required.
